Sometimes the faith my children hold in me, is daunting, but still it can be a wonderful boost to my ego too.
Miss17(almost 18) went out last night, to a restaurant with her friends. There was the usual in-depth discussion about what to wear, what shoes were best, and how to get there, and home. But, at about 5pm, she comes downstairs and asks the following:
Mum, I was catching the bus the other day, and while I was at the bus stop, there was this girl. Well you know how you do the braids where you only pick up the hair on one side? Well she had that, but it was like a headband across the front of the hair, but the back was all out and you couldn’t see where the braid started …… could you do that?
I had no image, only a teenagers vague description of what she wanted. Well, what followed was about 45 minutes of me struggling with her mass of slightly frizzy, almost waistlength hair, braiding, undo-ing, and rebraiding …… until we got the result she was happy with. So yes Miss17 … I can do a headband braid that starts and ends under the hair.
